This class will provide youth, ages 11 - 14, with fundamental principles of art. They will explore a variety of media, including: graphite, colored pencil, acrylic paint, watercolor, pastels, clay, pen & ink and more! Warm up drawings will be used to refine student hand-eye coordination and engaging group games will develop and build vital art skills. Students will also learn color theory, how to focus on goals for each stage of a painting and learn to draw accurately and efficiently. They will explore different styles including realism, comic/cartoon and abstract. The instructor will teach using follow-along projects as well as individually selected projects. Students will create subjects from their imagination and be encouraged to enter art contests and exhibits that fit their personal goals and skills.
